Custom Newborn Bamboo Knotted Gown

Four things decide whether a knotted gown works

• The knotted bottom is the whole product argument. No snap, no zip and no placket at the crotch means a night change does not require undressing the baby or finding a fastening in the dark. That is the reason a gown outsells a sleepsuit in the first three months, and it is not something a photograph shows.
• The knot has to stay tied. Tail length and fabric finish decide it. Cut the tail short and it works loose overnight; run the finish too slick and the knot slides open. Both are set against a washed sample, not a pressed one.
• The neck has to clear a newborn head, which is proportionally the largest it will ever be. Two buttons on a fixed opening give no adjustment after the fact, and on a newborn size buttons are also a small-parts question under CPSIA — so the attachment spec matters more than the button itself.
• Preemie is not a scaled-down newborn. The head-to-body ratio is more extreme and the gown is far shorter, so a downsized 0-3M pattern reads wrong on both counts. It is drafted separately.

Fabric and certification

Tanboocel® bamboo viscose is smooth at the fibre, breathable, and moves moisture away rather than holding it, so a baby does not wake up damp. It stays durable through the number of washes a newborn garment actually gets, which is a great many in a short time.

The claim with a document behind it is OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100, Product Class I — the baby class, the strictest in the system. Certificate numbers go out with the quote. Vertical integration from fibre to finished garment, and digital active dyeing in-house, are what let a solid colourway be matched on a reorder rather than re-approximated. For garments sold into the US, CPSIA is the framework that applies; ask for the test report alongside the certificate.
