What is actually hard about a matching programme

Not the print. Holding the print and the trim consistent across every body in the family is what decides whether the set sells or gets returned.

• The trim has to be one dye lot across the whole order. The contrast cuffs and zip tape on a 6-12M sleepsuit and on an adult set must be the same color. Run them in separate lots and the difference is invisible on the hanger and obvious in the family photograph — the only place this product is ever seen.
• One artwork, one scale, for every member. The print is deliberately not re-graded between the kids' sizes and the adult ones — the same motif at the same scale runs on a newborn sleepsuit and on a parent's set. That is what makes a family genuinely match rather than nearly match, and it takes a second artwork development and a second print approval off the order.
• Two constructions, one programme. The baby piece is a zip sleepsuit; the kids and adult pieces are two-piece sets. Different patterns and different labour — but one print, one trim, one delivery.
• The baby piece is built for the middle of the night. A two-way zip opens from the bottom, so a diaper change does not mean undressing a sleeping child.

For children's sleepwear sold into the US, the framework that applies is CPSIA; ask for the test report with the certificate.
