Solid dyeing, and what it changes

• A solid is harder to match across a family than a print is. A print gives the eye a field of motifs to read, and a shade difference between two pieces hides inside it. A solid leaves only the color, and the four pieces stand next to each other in the same photograph, so the difference is left in plain sight. We dye the whole set off one dye lot and inspect it as a set rather than as pieces. If the adult sizes come from one factory and the children's from another, this is the part that fails.
• Three of the four recipes carry 3 to 5% spandex. The fourth is 100% bamboo and has no elastane at all. On a short set that is a real choice and not a cost-down, because the top hangs from the shoulder and the waistband does the fitting, so recovery matters far less than it does on a legging. Take it if your market restricts elastane, if you want a single-fiber care label, or if the hand feel is what you are selling. You give up stretch memory.
• Men's and boys' shorts take a plain hem. Women's and girls' are finished differently, which means two trims to buy and match instead of one. It is a small thing that shows up in the family photograph.

Certification

Pajamas are not a CE-marked product. CE marking covers toys, personal protective equipment and medical devices, and children's nightwear is not in any of those categories. A supplier who offers you a CE certificate on pajamas is offering a document that has never existed for this product.

What applies instead is three documents, and all three are available before you place the order. Our OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100, Product Class I certificate, the baby class, with its number on the quote. The children's sleepwear flammability testing for your market; in the United States that is US CPSC 16 CFR 1615/1616, the snug-fit rule, which is a fit standard and not a chemical one, so passing it does not put a flame retardant in the cloth. And the CPSIA Children's Product Certificate. For the EU and the UK the category falls under a separate burning-behavior standard, and we will tell you which report your market requires.

Fabric options

All four recipes are built on Tanboocel® bamboo viscose, which is breathable and durable. The recipe is the variable that changes this product most, so it is worth specifying deliberately.

100% bamboo has the softest hand and the simplest care label. It also creases more than the blends, which is the cost of the hand feel.

95/5 and 97/3 add spandex for recovery. 95/5 holds its shape harder and suits a set that will meet hotel or rental wash cycles. 97/3 keeps more of the bamboo hand.

70/25/5 brings cotton in, for a drier hand and a lower cost, and takes some drape out.

Held across all four: Anti-Pilling Grade 3.5+, Shrinkage ≤ 4%, Fastness Grade 4. Digital active dyeing is done in house, and vertical integration from fiber to finished garment is what lets one lot carry a whole size range on a solid. That is what custom pajamas programmes are really buying when they place a family set with one factory.

Quality control

Inspections run at four points through production rather than once at the end, and each comes back as photographs and production notes, so you see the order while it is being made.

The inspection that matters most on a solid is the last one. The 100% quality check happens before packing and it ends with the sizes laid out together. A dye difference between the 6-12M short and the 4XL cannot be seen when pieces are checked one at a time. It cannot be missed when they are flat side by side. Waistband measurement and drawstring anchoring are read at the same point in the run. Your color or artwork can be carried through cloth, packaging and brand tag, collar neck tags are made to your design, and the artwork is not shown to any other buyer.
